    Q: How do I become a member of the FMA?

    A: Joining the FMA is very simple. You can join online by clicking here or you can call 800.762.0233 and ask to speak to someone in the membership department.This process only requires a valid credit card. A payment confirmation email will be sent to your email address on file. If you do not have an email account, a confirmation will be sent to you via regular mail.

     

    Q: Can I join online?

    A: Yes, simply go to www.fmaonline.org and click on “Membership” in the blue banner. From this page click on “Applications” and you can download the appropriate application and mail it to the FMA at: PO Box 10269, Tallahassee, FL 32302

    Or, you can click on “Join” on the right side of the screen. At this point you will be prompted to complete our online application and will be required to submit a credit card payment for membership.

     

    Q: How much are my membership dues?

    A: Membership dues are as follows:

    • $420 for an actively practicing physician in Florida
    • $200 for a semi-retired physician (one who practices 20 hours or less per week)
    • $145 for a Federal, State, or military employed physician
    • $99 for a retired physician
    • $99 for a physician practicing out of the state, but maintaining a Florida license
    • $23 for a medical student (This is a one-time fee and includes 4 years of membership)
    • Complimentary membership for residents and fellows who are enrolled in a training program in Florida

     

    Q: What are the membership benefits?

    A: The member benefits include:

    • Legislative and regulatory advocacy to protect and strengthen the economic viability of medical practices in Florida.
    • On-staff coding specialist available to you and your office staff if you encounter any problems or issues.
    • Assistance with practice management services related to reimbursement (Medicare, Medicaid, MCOs).
    • Complimentary online CME including the state-mandated courses for Florida allopathic licensure.
    • An online Job Board to assist with your personal employment or your staffing needs.
    • President’s Weekly Report – email communication.
    • Florida Medical Magazine – our quarterly publication.
    • Member Connection – Bimonthly newsletter.

    Q: How do I verify that I am an FMA member?

    A: Simply contact the FMA and we will be happy to verify your FMA membership status. You can call the FMA at 800.762.0233 or send an email to membership@medone.org.

     

    Q: I am retiring. What do I need to do about my FMA membership?

    A: Physicians working 20 hours or less per week are considered Semi-Retired and pay dues of $200 annually. Physicians who are completely retired pay dues of $99 annually.

     

    Q: How can I keep my FMA membership if I move out of the state to practice?

    A: Members will retain their current membership until the last day of the year. At that time their membership status will change to out-of-state and upon the next dues billing, will be invoiced for the out-of-state dues rate of $99. The mandatory courses for Florida licensure will still be available at no additional cost to out-of-state members.

     

    Q: How can medical students or residents become involved in FMA?

    A: Medical students pay a one-time dues rate of $23.00. This will cover four years of membership in the FMA. Residents receive a complimentary membership for the duration of their training program in Florida.

     

    Q: If my status changes, must I fill out another FMA membership application?

    A: No. If a member moves from one member category to another, you do not need to fill out another application.  However, please contact the FMA to notify us of the status change.     Q: Does the FMA have an online membership directory?

    A: Yes. An online FMA membership directory can be found here.

     

    Q: How do I access the CME courses you offer?

    A: Go to www.fmaonline.org and click on “Education” in the blue bar and then click on “Online CME”. From there choose which courses you wish to take. Download the information and print out the answer sheet. After filling out the answer sheet fax it to us at 850.224.6627. It will be scored and your certificate will be mailed to you. There is no charge for FMA members.

     

    Q: Can I be an FMA member, but not a member of my local county medical society?

    A: Yes, however, we do encourage our members to become members of their local county medical society.

     

    Q: How do I contact my local county medical society?

    Q: Will you send me an invoice?

    A: Yes. Please call the FMA at 800.762.0233 and ask to speak to someone in the membership department or send an email to membership@medone.org and we would be happy to send you an invoice.

     

    Q: Would you send me a receipt for my dues?

    Q: Does the FMA provide health insurance for physicians and their families?

    A: At this time the FMA does not provide health insurance as a member benefit though we do realize this is a need of our members. We are currently working to provide access to   this kind of benefit in the near future.
