The FMA's Office of the General Counsel (OGC) provides legal information to the Association and its members in many areas including medical records, subpoena compliance, balance billing and advertising. The OGC keeps an active watch on issues involving its members that come from the Board of Medicine and Department of Health such as Office surgery Rules, Scope of Practice issues, Physician Profiling and Credentialing. The FMA is not permitted by law to render legal advice to individual members, and urge physicians to retain qualified counsel to provide guidance through the legal maze that unfortunately is a reality in today's medical practice.
