Florida Medicaid began requiring the use of the National Drug
Code (NDC) for all HCPCS level II J, Q, and S codes for
injectable medications that are purchased and administered in
the physician's office effective for claims submitted after
January 7, 2007. This information must be entered on the
revised CMS-1500(08-05) claim form. Edit 241, "NDC missing,"
was posted to claims when the NDC was not listed, but claims
were paid during a grace period. Effective April 1, 2007, this
edit will deny when claims are submitted without an NDC.
Also, as a result of the Federal Deficit Reduction Act (DRA),
Florida Medicaid is reimbursing for J, Q, and S codes only when
the NDC is with a manufacturer that has a rebate agreement.
Medicaid has posted the "Current List of Drug Rebate
Manfuacturers" on the AHCA website. It can be accessed here
under the "What is New in Medicaid" heading. Providers will be
notified through the e-mail alert system. |
