Richard Rodriguez

Richard was born and raised in Miami, FL, where he attended Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. After graduating summa cum laude from Belen, he completed his undergraduate work at the University of Florida. During his time in Gainesville, he was active in numerous student organizations and honor societies. As a junior and senior, Richard represented the College of Public Health and Health Professions as a Student Senator. In the spring of 2005, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Health Science degree.

That summer, Richard began his medical education at the Florida State University College of Medicine. Soon after arriving in Tallahassee, he quickly became involved in organized medicine. During his first year, he served as FSU Chapter AMA-MSS Delegate and attended several state, regional, and national meetings before being elected Vice-Chair of the FSU Chapter. He is now the current AMA Chapter Chair at the FSU Pensacola Regional Campus. Richard has served on several AMA-MSS Committees and was Chair of the Rules Committee during the 2006 AMA-MSS Interim Meeting. He currently serves on the AMA Foundation Board of Directors and is also a member of the AMPAC Student Advisory Board.

Richard recently finished his term as Vice-Chairman of the Florida Medical Association’s Medical Student Section and was elected Chairman. He is looking forward to an exciting and productive year for the FMA-MSS!

Richard plans to pursue a career as an Emergency Medicine or OBGYN Physician, while maintaining an active role in organized medicine, patient advocacy, and Health Policy.
